President to sign 18th Amendment Bill soon: PM

Geo 436 ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said President Asif Ali Zardari was much eager to sign the 18th Constitutional Amendment Bill and would ink it soon. "The President will sign the Bill soon. The President is more eager than us to sign the Bill", Prime Minister Gilani said in a telephonic talk with media after the Senate unanimously approved the amendment. The Prime Minister congratulated the nation on the passage of 18th Amendment Bill and termed it "a dividend of the politics of reconciliation." He said despite criticism by some quarters, who even termed the politics of reconciliation 'government's weakness', the government continued to follow the policy and "now it is due to the politics of reconciliation that we got this dividend." The Prime Minister assured that in future as well the government would continue to follow the policy of reconciliation and Insha Allah will retrieve the country from all crises through consultation with all political parties and their leaders. About the proposed Accountability Bill, the Prime Minister said it is upto the parliament to take a decision on it.
