Geo436.com blog: Sugar price goes out of control

Geo 436 QUETTA: Seemingly out of control sugar prices have hit another massive blow to people dwelling in Quetta and Peshawar as the price of the commodity has surged to Rs.105 and 102 per kilogram respectively in two cities, Geo News reported.

As anticipated, the sugar price hike has contributed massively in soaring prices of biscuits, cakes and sweets in both cities, letting sugar-made items go beyond the purchasing power of people.

According to market sources, open market sugar price in Quetta today saw increase by Rs.5/kg. A 50-kilogram sack, previously being sold at Rs.4400, is now available at Rs.4800.

After the rise in sugar price, the prices of sweets, biscuits, cakes and etc. have also surged by 40 percent in Quetta.

Talking to Geo News, people complained against non-seriousness of Price Control Committee (PCC) and district administration and lack of tangible steps to control price hike.

They said, sugar has disappeared from Utility outlets all across city.

Meanwhile in Peshawar, a 50-kilogram bag is selling at Rs.5100 in open market, whose price was Rs.4600 twenty-four hours ago, taking the price per kilogram to Rs.102.

Rs.500 increased in a 50-kilogram bag while Rs.10 increased per kilogram in a day in Peshawar.

Sugar is unavailable at Utility outlets in city.
