Ties with Argentina to strengthen further: Naek


GEO 436 ISLAMABAD: Pak-Argentina relations will go from strength to strength with the passage of time as these ties are based on solid foundations and principles, which are rooted in history, observed Chairman Senate Farooq H. Naek Tuesday. He was speaking as the chief guest at a function organized by the Embassy of Argentina to mark the 200 years of Bicentennial Revolutions Celebrations and the Independence Day of Argentina. The Ambassador of Argentina to Pakistan, members of diplomatic corps and a number of federal ministers and parliamentarians were also present on the occasion. The Chairman Senate said that there is a wide scope for further expansion and consolidation of these relations particularly in the spheres of Science and Technology, Education, sports and culture. The two countries can learn a lot from each others experiences, he added.He said that both countries espouse democratic values and traditions and their friendship is a model of inter-state relations. Farooq H. Naek further added that extremism and terrorism are the common enemies of mankind and need to be tackled by joint strategy and commonality of approach and out look. He said that despite serious odds the country is facing, Pakistan's commitments to combat terror remains firm and strong. He said that due to the country's courageous efforts, the tide is turning and the terrorist are on he run. He hoped that it would succeed in completely eradicating these scourges. Earlier, the Argentinean Ambassador to Pakistan in his welcome address termed Pak-Argentina relations as exemplary and expressed the confidence that these would be consolidated further in days to come.
