Geo436 KARACHI: Transmission of the most viewed TV channel, Geo Entertainment, has been restored across the country, Geo News reported Monday.

Cable operators, at the behest of government and in defiance to the orders of Supreme Court, put off the air Geo Entertainment in different cities on Sunday, causing a loss of millions of rupees to the organization and difficulties to the viewers.

The viewers lodged complaints of the channel's being put off air by calling Geo TV's offices. In some areas the channel was blacked out, in other areas the sound was muted and in yet others the reception was disturbed repeatedly.

This kind of pressure tactic is usually adopted by governments to make an example out of one organization so that others could learn a lesson.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the past days cable operators were illegally forced to stop Geo's transmission. Later, the transmission was restored on the directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Sindh High Court. But, the ranking of the channel was thrown way down, causing problems for the viewers.
