CJ takes suo moto notice of girl’’s electrocution


GEO 436 ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo moto notice on a news item appeared in print and electronic media that a three and a half-year-old girl is in comma for the last eight days due to an electric shock received at a local high profiled in Lahore. The news item further disclosed that Irfan Ahmed along with his two daughters went to the hotel on May 29. His daughters were playing in the lobby of the hotel. After some time he went there to see them. He saw that her daughter namely Sarah Irfan was lying on the floor and fainted due to an electric shock as reported by the eyewitnesses. The incident occurred due to the alleged criminal negligence of hotel administration and due to electric shock the girl was in a critical condition as no first aid facility was available at the hotel. The police refused to register the FIR of the incident. Irfan Ahmed requested the government and the Chief Justice for justice and action against the hotel administration. Meanwhile, report was called from PPO, Punjab who disclosed in his report that case has been registered and is in progress with investigation wing. The complainant has also filed a petition before the ADJ, Lahore. Taking the notice, the Chief Justice passed the order, “Registrar Lahore High Court be asked to send proceedings/ report from the court of ADJ where matter is pending and is fixed for June 10.”
