MQM demands judicial inquiry into target killings

Karachi

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded of the government to hold a judicial inquiry into the target killings in Karachi.

This was stated by Sindh Minister for Information Technology Raza Haroon while addressing a press conference at Nine Zero on Friday. MQM Coordination Committee member Wasay Jalil was also present on the occasion.

Haroon said that if an impartial inquiry was held about the target killings in the city, it would reveal that the people are those who were earlier released from the jails despite their involvement in heinous crimes.

Haroon said that due to a major conspiracy hatched by MQM’s opponents and some specific media, the entire blame was being laid on Muttahida. “However, target killings are taking place due to personal differences or land issues. The land mafia and drug mafia are involved in the target killings in Karachi,” he alleged.

He said that since 1992 the MQM has been blamed for the killings but all these allegations have turned out to be false. He condemned those who accused MQM for carrying out the killings in Karachi and said that this was meant to tarnish the image of the party.

“A time will come very soon when all the cases in which the MQM is blamed for will prove to be fake. They are fake cases similar to the Jinnahpur case made by Brig (retd) Imtiaz. We hope that very soon all accused involved in target killings will be exposed,” he added.

Haroon claimed that the Jamshed Town police arrested an Awami National Party (ANP) youth wing activist called Majid Kashmiri. “Majid is a criminal involved in various murder cases while many criminals have also been arrested who were involved in the Lyari gang war. All these arrests show who the real culprits are,” he said.
