Geo436.com blog: Missing prisoners to be recovered: Punjab CS

Geo436 ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has been assured that 11 prisoners of Adiala Jail, who went missing from the jail, would be recovered, Geo News reported Tuesday.

A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry, heard the case regarding the missing prisoners.

Chief Secretary of Punjab Nasir Saeed Khosa told the court that the government is not helpless.

The CJ Chaudhry said the report has laid bare everything.

The Chief Justice remarked that incident occurred in a sensitive city like Rawalpindi and the most surprising aspect of the entire episode is that no one including Home Secretary and the DPO were aware of it.

When the court demanded, the RPO Rawalpindi presented DSR of May 25 of this year.

Expressing dissatisfaction on this, the CJ addressed Khosa, 'Why don't you talk plain? People like you are responsible for devastation.'

Addressing Additional Attorney General who gave statement that the agencies do not have the missing prisoners, the CJ asked him to go through the report.

Later on, the hearing was adjourned till November 10.

Talking to media after the hearing, the counsel of missing prisoners Ilyas Siddiqui said the prisoners were handed to the agencies, according to the DSR.
