GEO 436 PESHAWAR: President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday said that Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) would be improved to a level that international donor organizations doled out their charity through this project, saying it is a highway to prosperity of the downtrodden in Pakistan. He expressed these views while speaking at a ceremony held here at Governor House in connection with the distribution of cheques under BISP among the bomb blasts victims, IDPs and needy people. Lot of well off people across the globe usually contribute billion of dollars in charity related projects. Apolitical BISP which maintained transparency at all levels has all the potential and merits to attract foreign donations. The President said BISP will address all the poverty related programs in the country at the gross root level wherein women will be given special status and honor to improve their socio-economic condition. Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is a milestone towards socio-economic emancipation of poor strata and a mega step for financial empowerment of women folk in the country, he added. "There is a thinking behind it as we believe that a woman keeps intact a house and gives the best possible security to the family if she is financially sound and secured," he said.
