MQM PMA shot dead in Karachi

Awaz Apni KARACHI: Raza Haider, the MQM member of Sindh Assembly, was shot dead along with his gunman here in Nazim Abad area of the city, Awaz Apni reports on Monday.

Police said unidentified gunmen on motorbikes targeted the lawmaker in a mosque where he arrived to offer funeral prayers of a relative. He was killed along with his guard, Khalid.

Police said Haider was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed hospital after he received a bullet in his head but he could not survive.

He was elected MPA from PS-94 Karachi 6 constituency. Heavy contingent of police and Rangers were deployed in the area.

MQM has expressed anger and anguish over the incident and demanded probe into the killing.

“It’s a dangerous chapter opened by the opponents…any untoward incident may take place after this killing,” cautioned MQM’s Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghauri while speaking to a news TV.

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while talking to newsmen today, termed the killing as a conspiracy to sabotage peace of the city. 

He said some evil forces have conspired to destabilize the country and sabotage peace of Karachi, and appealed the MQM leadership to be tolerant.
 
The MQM legislator was another victim of the recent targeted killing spree continues in the metropolises over the last two weeks, claiming more than 30 lives.

Severe tense prevailed in the city and aerial firing was reported in different parts after assassination of the lawmaker.

Unseen forces are trying to target MQM, says Sabzwari 
Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Faisal Sabzwari while talking to Awaz Apni News expressed grieve on the murder Raza Haider.
Sabzwari said that “Raza was my colleague in the provincial assembly. He was closely affiliated with MQM. Most MQM leaders receive threats on regular intervals.”
“We are trying to gather information at the moment. All we know is that Raza went to a funeral where he was shot,” Sabzwari added.
Sabzwari was of the view that unseen forces are trying to target MQM. He urged that MQM will publish all findings into the killings.


Malik requests people remain calm
Interior Minister Rehman Malik speaking on the occasion said that people should avoid speculation. He said that proper investigations will be carried out into the matter. He further said that forces are trying to initiate a fresh wave of violence in our economic hub Karachi.
Malik was of view that earlier terrorist tried to destabilize the country by adopting tactics to initiate sectarian violence.
“I will request people to stay calm. I request everyone to cooperate with the authorities. All those involved will be brought to justice.”Interior Minister said.

MQM MPA Raza Haider shot dead in Karachi

Awaz Apni KARACHI: Member of the Sindh Assembly belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Raza Haider, was gunned down along with his guard and a party’s activist in Karachi on Monday.

According to reports, two unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire at Raza Haider when he was preparing to attend a funeral prayer at Jamia Masjid of Nazimabad Block-2.

He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died of wounds.

In addition, Haider’s gunman Tariq Khan and a 16-year-old party’s activist were also killed in the armed attack.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik condemned the incident, urging the MQM to maintain calm. He termed the targeted killings a plot to destabilize the country.

He said that Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) could also be involved in the killing because the deceased was receiving threats from the banned sectarian outfit.

Speaking to Awaz Apni on phone, MQM leader Waseem Aftab has alleged that ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed is involved in the armed attack on Raza Haider.

Karachi CCPO Waseem Ahmed has said that a high-level team has been constituted to investigate Haider’s killing.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has also condemned the tragic incident.
